A little pricey, but good overall
I've only eaten there 3 or 4 times, but the food both times is always pretty good. A lot [ ...More ] of the typical Mexican restaurant menu items, but a few unique dishes that stand out. And the spicy potatoes - papas con chili - are an interesting treat (if you're bored with the rice/refried beans combo).
One dissapointment is that their Sangria is very, very lame. Watered down, flavorless - blah. Stick with the bottled drinks, or head over to Chicanos for some decent Sangria. [ ...Less ]
Mmmmm, gotta love that Harry's!
Harry's Seafood is another of my favorite restaurants. It doesn't say it in their name, [ ...More ] but they've got a heavy Creole / Cajun / New Orleans style food, which is spectacular! I can't think of anywhere else in town that serves Po'boys or Jambalaya, so that alone makes them unique.
The Harry's Blackened Chicken is my personal favorite, but no meal there can be complete without that wonderful garlic butter and bread. Seriously, I could make a meal out of that alone, if I could tolerate the strange looks I'd receive.
Definite favorite - check it out if you haven't [ ...Less ]
Aye chihuahua !! Es muy bueno !!
LOVE IT! It's just outside Cypress Gardens and it was an unexpected treat. [ ...More ] We popped in just to grab something quick thinking it was like every other mom n' pop Mexican joint, and boy was I wrong!
All the dishes are fresh and cooked to order. I had the flautas. Sometimes, at other places, they can be over-fried and greasy, but not here. They were light and crispy and flavorful! It came with a fresh pico de gallo (tomato relish) with lots of cilantro, sour cream and TONS of fresh guacamole. Again, at most places you get a teasponn of guac, but not here... it was nearly 1/2 cup!
What's REALLY cool is the hot sauce bar. Admittedly, the hottest pepper sauce I can stand is Tabasco. I prefer the sauces with more flavors (mango, garlic, etc.) and not just the heat. Hubby - he's a HOT guy. He's ordered "nuclear" wings and sauces at other places and they were tepid. Tijuana Flats sauce bar has small, paper cups so you can try one - or all of them. The milder ones were great - and the hotter ones, according to hubby, were awesome too.
Winter Haven is a bit of a drive for us - especially w/ gas prices like they are - but well worth the trip. The atmosphere is fun and casual w/ outdoor dining by a fountain available. The manager told me of their plans to open two in Lakeland in the coming months so be sure to check them up.
I give them two snaps up in a zee-formation. [ ...Less ]
BEWARE
If you have any clothes worth value, do not take them to this place. They have ruined [ ...More ] several of my shirts. I spoke with the manager on different occasions and if his mouth is open he's lying! Go to Edgewood Cleaners! they know what they are doing. [ ...Less ]
